One of Razor's brows lifted up a bit after he sipped some more of his coffee. "That's all?" It seemed like he'd been there for years or something, but apparently it was just a few months? Again, that was another surprise. "What were you doing before this?" It was an optional question, but Razor's speech filter was asleep since the rest of him wasn't.

Faraz shrugged again, fiddling with the handle of his cup. "Not much of anything. I was out on the streets for a while. Traveled in a gang or two for a month or so each time. Going from one town to another, you know, not staying too long any particular place. Well, until the Avenger. It's the longest I've stayed in one place since...since I lived with my family," he said, glossing over the gory details.

"I know the feeling." Razor nodded in understanding. He'd never been in a gang, having been completely alone to avoid attention, but he knew what it was like to basically be on your own in the world. Of course, Razor'd been older at that time, Faraz had been much younger, and the real world wasn't merciful toward the young and alone. "They kicked you out or did you run away?" That would also tell a bit of a difference, since Razor'd run away.

Faraz shifted nervously. "My family?" he asked. Just because he had told Reno his the story about his departure from his home, doesn't mean he was comfortable to go and spread it around everywhere. He was the first one he had ever told, and it was still hard to voice his crime out loud.

"Apolgies, purely curious. You don't have to answer." Razor was unintentionally digging too deep into Faraz's past. Razor should have known that wasn't fair.
Sometimes your past just isn't something you want to talk about. He of all people should understand that.

Faraz sighed and managed to stop his figgeting. "No...it's alright. I'm just not used to talking about it. I was already enough of a hazard wherever I went without telling everyone what happened to my parents and my older brother." He took a deep breath and rubbed the back of his neck, looking at the ceiling to make it easier to talk.
"I didn't have any control back then. I started a brush fire...it spread too fast through the fields before we could do anything. My brother got me out alright...but then he went back in for our parents." His voice grew quiet. "They never came back out."

It was strange, that Faraz actually felt comfortable enough to tell him this. Especially if telling people got him into trouble.
And after hearing it, he could see why it would. The whole, 'you killed your family!? What kind of sick person are you?!' and they drive you out of town. It was all too familiar to him.
He hesitated for a moment before speaking again, "Well, I can promise you right now, I'd be the last person to dare consider you a hazard for something like that..."

Razor nodded, a slight smile was on his lips as well. He wasn't so sure Faraz was going to want to hear why though, so he wouldn't offer unless asked.
After all...Faraz's manslaughter had been indirect and completely accidental. "I'll spare you the horrors of knowing why..." He muttered, sipping at his coffe again.

Faraz was sure he could fill in the blanks. After all, that Marshal man had accused Razor in front of the entire crew plus that of the Navy. Instead of saying his thoughts out loud, he just nodded in understanding. He wasn't going to judge him for his past, not when Faraz himself had a fairly shady one himself.

This was rather awkward and relieving at the same time, but for the most part, Razor was just glad to be thinking coherently again, but not so much as to let the bad memories sink in too deep. Now that the two of them were on good terms, he’d refrain from messing that up. Lord knows he seemed to do that enough as it was. Now all he had to do was get back in Riza’s good graces, which looked like it could take a while. “You been workin’ on your balance?” He asked after a few moments of silence. He decided changing the subject could be beneficial, since it was on a dangerous curve.

Faraz let a groan slip. "A little," he said reluctantly. Of course he would ask about that. He had made improvements, but then again, he had been practicing on the yard arm. "I'm not so bad anymore."

Razor couldn't help but chuckle lightly at the groan. "Hey now, I wasn't going to enforce the training a while ago. You were the one who brought it up again." Before Razor would have let Faraz decide if he still wanted to go through with it or not, but at this point, it was good for him. He'd need to be able to at least defend himself if not ward off enemies and aid everyone else while on this ship.

"Then you're going to enforce it now?" he asked, though not as sufferingly as before. It was sort of nice that he wasn't viewed as a hopeless case.

Razor leered in amusement. He wasn't going to force it, but his version of enforcing training would be pretty close to unoptional. "It's good for you. You'll thank me later." He paused for a moment. "Besides, Reno's already taught you all he can about pyrokinesis. He's only a level I, so you'll hafta figure out the rest eventually...I wouldn't be surprised if you passed him up soon."

"But I guess if you're dead set on teaching me, then I could stick it out for a while..." he said, trying for a non-caring air. He could at least save some face.

Yeah, that had probably been an obvious comment. Reno was too lazy to bother getting stronger with his kinesis. Far far too lazy...Most people were at least a level II by that age...
At his second comment, Razor nodded, "Good, cos that's how it's gonna happen. It'll get easier as time goes on."
