"Oh were you now?" Kai cooed before snickering again, "Now you're just being ridiculous..." She said wryly, "And what about your flamboyant attitude that threatens to send you into the sky, hmm? You have no right to tease me about my supposedly 'dangerous charisma'." She did add air quotes to the last two words, dramaticizing their annunciating in accordance.

John puffed up as though indignant. "Flamboyant is hardly the apropriate word to describe a naval officer, I would think. I used nothing so harsh," he shot back.

Kai leaned her elbow in her knee, resting her chin in her palm, adding dryly, "Forgive me if my vocabulary is unsavory, I chose 'flamboyant' for lack of a better term..." Her lip twitched upward in a casual smirk, "In case you haven't noticed, my brain is a bit scrambled."

I'd be no more use than Zachary Marshall!" speculatively tapping her finger to her lips a few times, she amended, "Though a tad more tolerable, I should hope."

John looked up to the ceiling thoughtfully. "I don't know. In certain ways, without a doubt. But you do seem to ruin all of my dignified moments in front of the captain." That he had those rarely, he failed to mention.

Everyone needs someone to keep them in line, especially you, Mal." She held a hand up in a dismissive manner, "And before you say anything: You're welcome."

John fought to keep from smiling as he rolled his eyes at her. "I'm sure." He looked sharply up when he heard a yell echo through the ship. "That sounds like my cue," he said before heading for the door. "Get some rest, would you?" he asked before disappearing onto the deck.

The scream startled the girl as well and she was about to react, but realized that John would have reprimanded her for trying to do work. She couldn't help it, work was just what she did. Kaiani just shook her head with a bit more laughter as he left, "If you insist." As he left, she layed down on the bed, trying to figure out what the hell she was supposed to do other than work.
Somehow, she managed to fall asleep, forgetting for the first time since Damali had plagued her, she fell asleep, momentarily letting it slip to the back of her mind.
