John let out a breath of relief. At least he won this time, due no small part to her exhaustion. Maybe if he were lucky, she would agree to go rest in her cabin for a time. "Come on," he said with a triumphant grin. "You need a bit of rest before you really give us something to worry about," he teased lightly.

Kai just nodded submissively, but still, she couldn't manage to lift her body off the ground anymore than she already had. It was rather pathetic, she hardly weighed anything! Well, time to temporarily break that promise about not talking, "Apparently," she started, her breath still hoarse, "Fate has decided I'm...not going to be able to get myself there...on my own..."

And that's the cue John was waiting for. At least she was asking for help this time. "Alright, then. I guess I can lend a hand." He glanced at the captain for permission before extending a hand and pulling Kaiani to an upright position. If she could shuffle along, then he would let her stay on her feet, supporting her on his shoulder. If not, then he was going to carry her, no matter what she said about her pride.

Kai tried not to be a dead-weight, locking her knees once she was on her feet. But, instead of staying upright like she'd intended, her balance betrayed her and she began to fall over straight. If she hadn't still been holding onto John's hand, she no doubt would have hit the deck again.
Damnit, she did not want to be a basket case! She moved one leg over to help catch herself a little, but overall, she was feeling pretty pathetic.
Don't carry me, don't carry me, don't carry me... She thought, hoping she'd just suddenly have the strength to walk. But, that didn't seem to be happening.

John raised a brow at her. Her thoughts were as easy to read as if she had said them out loud. Too bad he couldn't give her that, well, completely.
He decided to give her some semblence of dignity by looping her arm around his shoulders and supporting most of her wait on his side. Then she would look like she was supporting herself some. "The sooner we get you there, the better," he said quietly to her.

Kai just nodded weakly, thankful that he hadn't just sweeped her feet out from under her (literally, anyway).
A nap would be nice, but actual relaxation wasn't going to come, she knew that much.
"Thanks..." She mumbled tiredly as she managed to force her legs to move, though nearly all of her weight was being supported by John.

John responded with a worried nod. She wasn't acting like herself, and the exgaustion couldn't account for all of that odd behavoir. He stewed in these thoughts as they trudged along the deck to her room.
